Welcome. My name is Greg Wagland (aka Magpie Audio) and I recorded all the stories you will find on this channel. They are not available elsewhere currently. The copyright to these videos and audio recordings belong to me. This includes more than 50 Sherlock Holmes stories, which are all unabridged and narrated/read by me. That's right - it's not someone else's reused work - it's mine. This includes The Hound of the Baskervilles, A Study in Scarlet and A Sign of (the) Four. I've put captions on most of them.
All of the text in these stories are in the public domain, as is all the artwork (such as that by Sidney Paget). Production copyright vests in / belongs to Magpie Audio (aka Greg Wagland).

Recollections of Captain Wilkie by Arthur Conan Doyle (1895) Read by Greg Wagland.
Hi. Here's a tale I first read today in which we meet a character who seems like a curious hybrid of Watson and Holmes travelling in a railway compartment with a rather dodgy geezer. It's quite a jolly tale all in all.
Was that an Oscar Wilde quote I spotted, early doors?
I recorded this story on an sE dyna something or other at my desk and not in my studio. Sounds ok but not 10/10 and quickly mastered on the hoof. Excuses, excuses.
Enjoyed getting back to recording some Conan Doyle and hope to unearth a few similar gems over the next few weeks, unless of course the sunshine draws me into the 'outen world'.

Here is another story from the 1914 collection of tales titled The Wisdom of Father Brown. It's an interesting tale of numismatists, shrimping in South Wales and rather strange pub in a mews in Fulham. Was it Fulham? Anyway, the lesson here may well be 'Don't be greedy and go on the rob!' There may be some other nuances that I have missed but I'm sure somebody will expand on them in the comment...

This is a complicated story that’s very hard to follow and requires retracing, even after reading Part Two. And whatever Eashire (sp?) is, the Spanish Embassy wouldn’t be there. The Spanish Embassy would be in London, as embassies are always located in capital cities. Consulate perhaps. Maybe a Londoner can clarify this for us all. The story gets completely un-understandable in Part Two. Not Doyle’s best.
